PvE'er branching into pvp
Very sorry if this is in the wrong place but anyways,
1)Is it hard to break into HA from a PvE history. I know it has pretty much completely different tactics and I like to consider myself a fairly quick learner. But have I destroyed my chances by getting used to PvE.
2)Is it worth bothering. I mean I'm a new guy with no rank who is locked into his PvE guild. Is it worth bothering with Pug's and/or this kinda branches into a nother question so...
3)do guilds ever take in people without the person joining the guild. I mean in watching some HoH I've noticed that a "Guild" team occasionally has a member that has a different tag I always assumed they were allies or what not, but is it possible?
Thank you for any help and advice and again sorry if this is in the wrong place.

tbh it is not worth bothering anymore, especially if you have no rank at all. By the time you get rank and it starts to get fun GW2 could be in stores.

1. You have not destroyed your chances by playing just pve. At this late of game's life it is just hard to find good and nice players who want to play with you some pvp.
2. If you are not willing to leave your pve guild and your guildies won't start playing pvp, you are pretty much screwed unless you get some pvp guild to your alliance. Since you don't have pvpers in your friendlist you are pretty much limited to your guildies and alliance members. So changing guild is best chance to get to play pvp and pugs are just bad and there is no fun in playing with bad people.
3. They are either friends of their guild members, alliance members or some random pugs (rarely).
If you really want to get into pvp here is small list what you need to do.
1. get ventrilo and maybe teamspeak (who uses that anymore?) and headset with working microphone.
2. get free pvp slot if you already don't have one.
3. unlock the most used skills of your preferred profession(s).
4. check if there is ppl who are willing to start play pvp in your guild and alliance, then either form a new guild with those ppl if you have enough players or find a pvp guild.
I suggest you to start gvg:s, because ha isn't fun unless you are quite good at it. TA is about some gimmick builds and isn't too fun either, but that might be good place to get familiar with pvp. RA and AB are just places to fool around.
There is pretty much what I had in my mind. I hope you find a good group to play with.

Ok so the gerneral opinion seems to be yes itd be possible for me to get into it but it will be difficult without leaving my guild. Cause I have all the skills for ele and most others (I tend to hold onto enough faction from ab to get any I don't have unlocked). I use vent and ts daily. So I guess ill see what I can figure out thanks for all your help.

I'm in the same boat as you, except i'm not in a guild.
Are there any PvP guilds out there that'll teach someone how to be good at PvP?

You should try to look in the Pvp Guild Recruitment section ,or set up a thread in the Pvp looking for guild section.
I recomment to contact people from there in-game.
Do not be shy to ask if a guild is willing to take you in although you lack the knowhow. Most wont mind showing you the way arround in pvp.

On the kiSu website, you'd be looking for casual love. As to your questions. 1) Yes.
2) No (It is difficult to gain rank, and when you ask people for help, they will probably /rage at you just for not knowing. Then most people QQ in all chat, and receive five times the /rages.)
3) If you hop into HA id1, you'll see very few groups are looking for PUGs. Luckily for you, they are mostly the unranked ones. High ranked guilds/groups will usually only use friendslist.

Now whether someone have the time and/or motivation to actually make the effort is what separates truly good people from bad players who use the same retarded builds and make the same stupid mistakes.
Once you can play proficiently and no longer want to be a good, but unknown, unacknowledged player, you need to take into account the social aspects of GW. Basically you want to build a great friends list that can get you guests, TA groups, HA groups, and hopefully an invite to a guild filled with other competitive, good players. How do you do this? Honestly, you can try cold calling "good" players out of the blue and hope that they take the time to respond, but you'll find a lot of the time that they simply can't be bothered. A more successful way is to basically stroke their epeens and become friends first (this is assuming you're a cool person and can make friends), whereupon it becomes exponentially easier to talk to them, ask for advice, and do non-serious activities like AB/sync-RA with them. If you don't make any retarded mistakes on your pvp expeditions and win enough, your "good player" buddy will tend to look upon you more highly and is more likely to take you into HA/TA/GvG. Don't expect to be guested for a mAT, but anything that exposes you to more "good" players is helpful, since if you don't manage to singlehandedly lose the game for them, they are more likely to play with you again. By being seen/associated with them and having them say nice things about you, eventually others will see you as "good" and the guest invites will pour in. Congratulations, you are now "good" at Guild Wars.
Note: The above process works 1612362323896723986x better if you have 2 X chromosomes.
TL;DR: Expect to be flamed because you're bad, read forums/wiki, get better, suck epeen to build flist, become good.

Yeah I am in the same boat, I had been playing GW for a while, I ended up in a pretty good GvG guild for a while, many of them are now in top guilds. Even though I was in the guild I never got to go along for GvG much unless someone was missing and they absolutely needed me. Needless to say I had a blast.
Then the guild kind of disbanded and I went and PvE, I have done some HA since with an old group of ranger spikers but it always was an hour to get the group, 30 minutes to ge our spike practiced, go in, maybe win maybe loose. We never won more than twice in a row, and then we would loose someone and we wuld repeat the process. I was new to the scene and made some stupid mistakes that the 15 year old leader just could not handle and he yelled at me a lot. So I did this untill I got 35 fame and got bored.
So thanks for the advice as well guys, maybe ill try and find a guild that is willing to teach me the ropes of HA.

^^ LOL.... that is the ropes of HA.
my advice is to start at RA and unlock TA and then HA. this gives you a good starting point for learning to HA. if you are good enough to get to HA then the fun really starts.
and really, do what all newbies to HA do and PUG and Randomway. it takes a while to get to your first Bambi, but the rewards outweigh the pain. who knows, you might get lucky one day and get into a PUG with some Rank 12's and win halls a few times, yes, even at Rank 2 it can happen. I accidently hooked up with some excellent players back when smiteway was only just starting and no-one ran it and made it all the way from Rank 1 to Rank 3 in one day.
Obviously now i don;t bother cause i got what i wanted unless i decide to work on a Dragon or Pheonix after i finish everything else in the game...
my advice is just work work work. you learn from playing and seeing how other players play when you are out there. you don;t need a guild to teach you how to pvp. and set yourself a goal and work towards it.

Pretty much what everyone else is saying in this thread. Don't start pvping so late especially with a pve background such as yourself.

It will be a hard, but it's definitely worth it. It will take at least another 1.5/2 years before GW2 comes out, so enough time before everybody storms to play something else.

PvE'ers are quiet funny on pvp especially in ha or gvg. Regardless on what char they play on, your way of playing the match is soooooo different to how u play in ha or gvg. If you have some exp in pvp then you should do ok but dnt be surprised if u don't get into the high ranking groups.
But it's ok cause it takes time to get exp in pvp. Just got to stick with it
